Well, as Country Nights go, this one wasn't too horrible. Usually they make me want to stick my head in a vat of tar. However, was it just the lighting - or did Martina McBride look like she had a massive bout of cataracts? That was freakin' me out.
PHIL (Where The Blacktop Ends)
He did sound pretty good doing country. And I had never picked up a country vibe from him, so I was totally surprised when he said "This is what I want to do." Wah? I still hate it when they walk through the crowds - and don't get me started on crowd huggers.
JORDIN (A Broken Wing)
Sweet Baby Jesus. That girl sang her booty off. She literally gave me chills. My total fave of the night. Too bad she was dressed in a red garbage bag.
SANJAYA (Something To Talk About)
Let's get this straight. That song is not a country song. He was totally cheating. And totally sucking. His jig may finally be up. Unless the pity party starts up yet again after Simon went after him like a rabid dog.
LAKISHA (Jesus Take The Wheel)
As she learned when she sang "And I'm Telling You," you don't do a signature song unless you can thrown down. Unfortunately, that was not throwing down with Carrie Underwood. Sorry. She was definitely shouting through most of it. She could be in trouble this week.
CHRIS (Mayberry)
Simon was a bit harsh. I thought he was enjoyable and fun - although I do agree he still has nasal issues (Chris can tell me it's on purpose all he wants. I call snot.) I do feel for him being the one from Virginia right now. And I loved how Simon rolled his eyes at him when Chris sent prayers out... but then told Blake it must be hard to sing this week... um, Blake is from Washington State, dude. Not that they aren't all feeling it, but don't roll your eyes at the ONE from Virginia, Simon. Grrr.
MELINDA (Trouble Is A Woman)
Hair looked great. She sounded great. I am bored.
BLAKE (When The Stars Go Blue)
Damn, his outfit was cute. And he sang it well. Not as well as I would have hoped - but still well. I am bored with him too.
Who is going home? SANJAYA. Finally. With LaKisha joining him in the Bottom 2, unfortunately. I'd love to see Phil in the Bottom 2 instead, but I doubt that is happening this week.
AND YOU?

totally agree - BYE SANJAYA!
I pretty much agree with your recap. A couple of additional thoughts....
Seriously, when all else fails, say you want a career in country music. Guarantee that Phil will be singing with a twang for the rest of the season. Worked for Carrie, worked for Josh fatass Gracin. And for the love of Tom Cruise would somebody PLEASE add "something to talk about" to the list of aforementioned BANNED songs? OMG it's always horrible. Remember even Fantasia sucked at it? Be gone with it. Lakisha, that song did nothing to show your voice. she totally should have sung "and I will always love you", it IS a Dolly Parton song for chrissakes and would have been much better for her. Jordin was just fab. Chris, seriously, grating on my nerves. Blake, eat him up with a spoon. Loved the outfit too. And totally bored with Melinda, but the extensions work girl.
Out? Sanjaya or LaKisha.
I could hope to see Sanjaya go home, but it never seems to happen. Chris might be at risk this week, I think.
Funny, my thoughs on Jordin's outfit was that she was wearing a shower curtain ...
Anyway, Phil did a great job this week. I think he'll escape the bottom three.
Blake could have done better, he seemed out of tune at parts and none of the judges mentioned that. Was it just me? He's probably still safe, though.
Lakisha and Chris, I think, will be in the bottom three.
But I think Sanjaya's fans will jump ship this week and he'll finally be gone. Bad song plus bad hair!
I so wish I was into AI -- it does sound like fun. But as you can see from this, we are luddites: http://nobaddays.wordpress.com/2007/04/08/bling-bling-and-the-baggage/
Sue, it's all Stacie's fault that I watch AI. And I watch it through rabbit ears because we don't have cable.
Woo-hoo! I finally got one right!
I'm soooo glad Sanjay is GONE!
Bye-bye, thanks for playing.
Pretty much agree with your recap, except I like Phil more than you and I l.o.v.e. country! I actually just like almost all music.
I know - BYE SANJAYA!!! So excited!
And P.S. I'm glad they showed that video of Simon, that he *wasn't* rolling his eyes at Chris over the VT comments.
