I knew it. I knew I should not have said the words, "We rarely have had puking events at our house," when my friend Tisha was weathering a stomach flu at her house recently.
3:00am
Declan: Mammmmmaaaa!
Aimee: (Groggily stumbling to his room) Are you OK, buddy?
Declan: I feel like I am going to throw-up.
Aimee: Uh-oh. To the bathroom!
= insert child nausea, which nearly forces adult nausea =
Declan: (much perkier) Wow! I feel so much better. Can I have some water?
Aimee: (feeling his head) OK. I don't think you have a fever. I think you threw up because you have a sinus infection and all that phlegm was dripping down your throat and upset your tummy.
Declan: (feeling MUCH better, starts with rapid fire questions) What's a fever? What is phlegm? Why are boogers different colors? Why does it drip down your throat? Hey look! I left my "Very Hungry Caterpillar Book" in here, can I read it? Why is it dark out still? Mama, Mama, why are you banging your head on the sink?

Oh geez. I'm just starting to realize that they don't slow down or become calmer (serene ... why can't we have boys that are SERENE?) as they get older. Sigh.
Just kidding. Wouldn't want them any other way.
The funny thing is Declan *is* a (relatively) calm kid. Apparently not at 3am, though.
I hope that it was just a one shot deal and everyone is feeling better today!

it amazes me that he told you he felt like he was going to throw up. josh (same age!) has only thrown up once in his life (knock wood) and didn't have a clue what was going on!!!
When do they sleep through the night again?

I once threw up in my sleep and DID NOT WAKE UP.
What is THAT all about? So be thankful it wasn't like a frat party where he woke up in a pool of his own vomit wondering what just happened.
