It *was* aliens after all!
Remember how Bryan spent some time in the hospital last year? Freakily enough, at this exact time last year? For random intense stomach pain and projectile vomiting? (Sorry if you are still eating your Corn Flakes).
Well, he's been fine pretty much since then - with mild flare-ups when he lets stress get the better of him... but last week he had a pretty bad one again. Where he almost woke me up to take him to the hospital in the middle of the night. But instead, being the stubborn goat he is, he stayed up all night suffering through the pain, mainly trying to avoid more trips to the ER where they turn him away, telling him it's nothing.
But I did get him to go see his GI specialist quickly thereafter. Who agreed, yet again, that he probably has some sort of ulcer deep up inside that is not showing up on the scopes which gets exacerbated by stress. But, let's take some blood work, just in case, OK?
The doc called yesterday.
Bryan has some sort of crazy bacteria living in his gut that causes these kind of reactions.
Can you BELIEVE it???
He is now on 2 different antibiotics - the size of his head, I might add...
And maybe now Declan can stop talking about the night that Daddy threw up out the window of the car so ferociously that he hit a tree with his stomach contents.

Living in his belly for a year? Eeks! Poor guy!!!
H. Pylori? My dad had that - stress exacerbated but caused by bacteria. Years of living with it and he was cured with a couple weeks of antibiotics. There's light at the end of the projectile tunnel!

Glad he finally got a diagnosis. Nothing sucks more than being sick but being told you're not sick.

Oh, I can relate. My husband hates going to the doctor because they keep telling him it's nothing, too. Hope Bryan feels better soon.

Marabeth, yeah, I pulled it off again, testing the waters again with the spambots. We'll see how it goes!!! I hate word verification!!! But, I got hit last week and had to turn it on. I am probably naive to turn it back off again, but figured it was worth a try.
Ewww! I've heard other stories of parasites living in people and doctors not finding them for a real long time. That's just yucky!
At least it wasn't a lost twin or something like that.
My husband won't go to the dr. either, unless he's dying. And even then he probably would just try taking some Motrin. *eyeroll*
Here's hoping those antibiotics do the trick...'cause...that much vomiting has got to blow. And I mean that literally.

YIKES! That is kind of scary. I'm glad you found out what the cause is. I had that happen a few years ago...I hate hearing the words "undiagnosed" from a doctor. I pay them to diagnose it damn it.
Yikes! Hope that gets cleared up quickly. I can't imagine that, though I experienced something vaguely similar (but not really) this past August, when my partner woke me up (unintentionally) in the middle of the night. He had intense pain, so we figured he had kidney stones, and almost seven hours in the ER verified that.
Oh, Amy. When I first read this I thought, "gallbladder". It has similar symptoms, but bacteria?? Scary. With all these 'super-bugs' going around none of us are safe.

Holy cow -- that's horrible! Of course, I've suspected bacteria or parasite, but they've been ruled out thus far for me. No projectile vomiting, though.
