Ode to Macaroni & Laundry Lint

One of Declan's homework assignments this week was to create a self-portrait of himself with various household items. The point was to discuss different textures... soft, hard, smooth, rough, sticky and so on. It was a fun exercise, until of course, Bryan started running all over the house bringing back things that made my skin crawl.

See, I may have some mild Sensory Intergration Dysfunction going on, because certain things really gross me out. Growing up, it was just called "weird" - but little pieces of paper made my throat constrict. Especially wet ones. Friends thought it was funny to rip off little bits of their beer labels and see how many they could place in front of me before I would notice. So. not. funny.

Last night, I was forced to not only glue teensy piece of toilet paper into Declan's "neck," I also had to add laundry lint to his cheeks. I am gagging as I type this.

The things we do for our children! Note to Declan's future self, I deserve major brownie points for this, dude!

One more question though.

Since when does my son resemble Bert?

P.S. 30 Days of Thanks
I am thankful that my son still LOVES to do his homework.

UPDATED TO ADD:
I swear I didn't plan this, but more of my freaky behavior is up at Mile High Mamas today! Who's the Koo Koo Bird now?

Love that picture! For me the gagging sensation comes from eating anything from a wooden spoon. I can't stand the way it feels on my lips and tongue. *shudder*

I love that picture!

I think deep down inside, all of us resemble Bert. Declan just brought out his Inner Bert.

After this morning, I feel like if you spread all that food and stuff out onto a paper covered with glue, the random mess would look like me. Darn doctors.

Had to laugh at the image of you gagging while typing this, sorry. Rice paste makes me throw up. Just looking at it will make me gag and projectile vomit. I'm gagging now.
