But first, thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart to all you who have commented on the Delurker Day thread. It was wonderful to see you all: old pals, new pals, coming together in peace and harmony with one common goal: to make me feel good about myself. Really, it's a beautiful thing.
And while 99% of the time I totally write this blog just to get whatever I am thinking about out, or to document things that are happening in our lives, not thinking about whether a post will get a high number of comments or not - I have to admit this 1% of the time, it really feels nice to hear that so many of you appreciate what I am saying.
So here is my dilemma. It's nothing so trivial as who to vote for in the presidential race. (ppssst: John Edwards). This is about American Idol. Did you know it starts next week? Did you know I am a freak about it? Well, usually I am - but I was getting kind of tired of it all. And I wasn't sure if I was going to even watch this season, much less post my recaps of the performances as I have in past years.
But January has rolled around, and I am feeling the itch.
That's where you come in. Here is where you can have a say in the content at Chez Greeblemonkey for once.
Should I post recaps of American Idol this season?
You won't hurt my feelings if you say no. I can just yell my acerbic barbs at the TV screen and not take the time to type them all out.
But if you say yes, watch out.

hi. i'm an AI freak too. if you post your thoughts, i will post mine and we can be AI freaks together.
:)
Absolutely.
To my way of thinking, it's your blog. You write what you want and if someone doesn't want to read about AI, they can skip that post.
Hope that works for you :)
I have no interest in AI personally, so wouldn't care to read recaps. However, if you just write "American Idol" in the title every time, I'll know to skip it.
:-)
I was really into AI for the first couple of seasons, now I treat it like The Bachelor, I tune in near the end to see who "wins". ;-)
Feel free to blog, tho'... I'll still read it. After all, it is YOUR blog, you can do whatever you want!
Absolutely agree with the "it's my party and I'll blog about AI if I want to" mentality. I guess I was just teetering on whether people wanted to hear it, and if they didn't, I wouldn't bother. kwim?
Given the recent rash of record companies dropping their American Idol singers, I'd venture to say AI is becoming less and less important on the music scene (and some would argue it was never important in the first place). My vote is no, but don't let me deter you. I always have the option not to read your posts that day. :-)
I crave AI gossip, truly:)
I hear it's supposed to be a good one! I miss Kelly Clarkson. Wouldn't it be fun if they had all the winners come back and compete? Yeah, right, like all of their big record people would ever let that happen. Sigh.
I love me some show recaps. I threatened to recap all the Project Runway shows, but I got bored with doing it, probably because it's not up to snuff this year. But I hate "having" to do it.
ANyway, go for it!
What the anonymous posters said!
OK, so I am de-lurking a day late :-) Came over here thanks to Nylonthread, but I also remember you from NaBloPoMo when I totally spaced on bookmarking you. Anyhoo....YES - would love AI updates! Might even post s few myself ;-)
aka tpgoddess
I only watch AI the first couple episodes to see all the rejects. :)
Yes, then maybe we don't have to watch it this year!
Yes! I loved your AI commentary last year!
Nyeh! Not my thing so I'll skip those posts.
We don't have cable, so I've never been sucked into the whole AI thing. We did it mainly to avoid reality television completely. That said, I'd still read if you posted about it, I just wouldn't know what you were talking about. :)
I think it'd be fun if you twittered it. That way we can follow along in real time like we're actually crashed out on the sofa next to you.
Just a thought.
See, Talesofmy30s... I don't care for the beginning episodes and don;t really write much until the competition starts narrowing down. The beginning ones are getting crueler and crueler. I mean, I like a trainwreck as much as the next person, but when they start making fun of people who are clearly unstable or mentally challenged - that turns me off. BUT NOT ENOUGH TO STOP WATCHING - HA!
And Keely - WE DON'T HAVE CABLE EITHER!!! That's how dedicated I am. I watch it through freaking rabbit ears. I have a serious problem.
Hmmm. Mamma. I'll think about that!!!
Absolutely detest American Idol. I'm not opposed to you writing about it, but I'm with the others who would just skip it if you wrote about it.
I'd read it, I have no one to dish with when it comes to AI.
Yes! I look forward to your recaps!
DianeC
i'll be posting 'em on juice...if you just want to come over there ;)
ohhhh I wanna read recaps!!! I say go hard!
oooh, Ali, dueling AI!
I'd rather watch paint dry than watch American Idol, but have at it.
I don't watch it and am not at all interested in it...I'll just skip those posts. You should blog about it if it's a passion though.
Pbsssst....American Idol makes my baby Jesus cry BUT...I know a certain Sizzle that would adore it if you came and wrote about it for Snackie TeeVee as well :).
http:www.snackiepoo.com/teevee
Sure, why not?
Is this really a question you need to ask? Um, yeah.
methinks you all are leaning towards yes, posting. Check.
Yes, post AI recaps, it saves me having to watch it. :)
No opinion on the whole AI thing, but I'm sorry I missed delurking day. So here I am ... delurked.
oh yes PLEASE.
My dvr is already set to record!!! I can't wait for it to start... and I love hearing people give their opinions!
you can post whatever you want... but as to American Idol, I will likely skip those posts, just like I skip the show.
Dear God NOOOOO!!!!
I'd rather you post comments on CSPAN.
Mitch, LMAO!
Maybe I'll do both.
And do you still love me even though I watch American Idol?
I see them as a staple, a sure thing on your blog. Greeblemonkey wouldn't be Greeblemonkey w/o them.
Go for it. Please!
LOL, there's my Anne!
I have no preference, as I think I am the last person left in America who does not watch AI - but I do want to say that I love the link to kiva on your site!! WTG!!
I'd be more than happy to skip right over any posts tagged "AI." :) It's easy enough to ignore stuff that doesn't interest me - if you have a hankerin' to write about AI, go for it.
Hellz Nah. I feel the same way about AI as I do about Survivor...NEGATIVE!
It's your blog, you decide! :)
But really, I have to say no. Not because I wouldn't want to read it. We'll probably watch Idol ourselves, but a few days later. So I can't visit your lovely blog until I watched the episode myself! :)
But hey, like I said, your blog!
I do not, never have, never will watch American Idol. I have no interest. I tried to watch just to see Paula all blitzed out, but it was simply too boring. Therefore, I vote NAY! But I do love the drawing in your newer post, and especially like that you are wearing a vest!
Who knew you all would be such polar opposites on this topic! LOL.
OK, I think I will post on it.
But you all have to COMMENT on my posts to. the ones who voted yes, that is.
The ones who voted no, I promise to title it "AI" so you can easily skip them!
Not a big fan of American Idol. But the recaps could be fun.
Heck yeah...I love me some AI!
In a word? YES
LOL - ok ok, I will be doing it, don't worry.
They will start when the contestants get narrowed down!
Whatever you choose to do about AI, here's an option. We could have a Denver-area AI fest. Get together at some lovely blogger's house and giggle as we say "dawg" and "it was a bit cabaret."
Just a thought.
binky... That's a thought for maybe the final! Except my house has crappy reception through rabbit ears!
