Guess who is home?!?
The accordion-playing bacteria conquerer, that's who! She is staying with my mom until she is fully healed, but all is going really well. She completely beat the doctor's predictions and came home about 4 days earlier than expected. Talk about an over-achiever.
Of course, I based my flights on the doctor's predictions and won't arrive in Maryland till late Friday night. But I am looking forward to just spending time with one of the most special people in my life, and providing some relief to some of the other extra special people in my life. Heidi has already challenged me to some cards - a sure sign that she is feeling better.
I really have to give mad props to my sister, Karrie, who has carried the heaviest load through all this, dealing with all the doctors, nurses, patient advocates, etc. and kept everything together while Heidi was stuck in a hyperbaric chamber.
We are all very grateful for your kind thoughts, notes and cards. They really helped keep her spirits up, which I truly believe was instrumental in fighting this thing. Thanks to you all.

Gman - it was a flesh eating bacteria - can you believe it? They said it was totally random, but that her diabetes exacerbated it.

I'm so glad she's better and home... I know how you are feeling,my dad slipped and fell on ice in Baltimore last Tuesday while going to vote, and messed himself up pretty badly...he just got out of the hospital as well. Congratulations and Best Wishes to Heidi.
