Cake or Death

Declan and I were out to lunch yesterday and I literally overheard a mother say this to her bratty, whining, screaming child: "Stop it NOW! Do you want a SPANKING? OK. How about a coookiieee?"

Clearly she subscribes to the Eddie Izzard Cake or Death School of Parenting.

Kristabella, go to YouTube and search for Eddie Izzard Death Star Cantina. It's the Mac Daddy of Eddie Izzard with Legos.

It's so nice to know others have internalized the brilliance of Sir Eddie as well--though I think parenting theory may be a bit much.

I run a daycare in my home and it kills me to hear what parents do with their kids when they are out of my clutches. The latest??

Mom: "Ohhh, I'm so tired, Nicholas would NOT go to sleep last night and wanted a sandwich at like 1 o'clock in the morning!"

Me: "Did you actually GIVE him one!?!"

Mom: "Well....(hesitation) yeah!"

True story.

Geez. I hate it when people threaten their kids. Bribes are totally acceptable, but threats drive me nuts!!!

Love the Cake or Death routine, but totally agree that the Death Star Cantina is even more hilarious. Heehee!

That was funny!

I once heard a dad tell his bratty kid who wouldn't stop screaming at the aquarium "shut up till Christmas!" It was July.

I laughed so hard.

Marketing Mama, no kidding. We don't spank, but I especially hate spankers that take it so lightly that they can through it around like that... and clearly the house is a rollercoaster ride all the time.. spanking, cookie, spanking, cookie? No wonder he was out of control, I would be!

The first time I listened to "Glorious" I was driving back to college (it was a 9 hour trip) and I nearly crashed my car. It was THAT FUNNY.

That was too funny:) Can you hear the kid? I think I'll choose spanking this time - shake things up a bit.

die Izzard doing a stand up tour??? I must look into this. I'm seeing Ricky Gervais in July, but if Eddie Izzard is touring I MUST find tickets to him as well. I saw him a few years ago and it was painful to remain in my seat I was laughing so hard.

Well, if it's a choice between a spanking and a cookie, I'm going to have to go with cookie. I'm not into S&M.

I LOVE me some Eddie Izzard.

And what is up with some people's parenting styles? And then they wonder why their kids act the way they do. I should give speeches. You know, because my kids are PERFECT (when they sleep).
