American Idol: Top 5

I have to say, the celebrity judges this season have been surprising but surprisingly awesome. Jamie Foxx was so damn good. I love when the contestants get valuable advice once and a while [as opposed to what they get from the, cough cough, regular judges.] And overall, the kids took his advice and did really really really awesome. Of course, standards week is always great, cause the songs are great.

KRIS ALLEN - THE WAY YOU LOOK TONIGHT
Is my new pretend boyfriend smokin' awesome or WHAT? Kara totally hit the Idol on the head. His phrasing, his intensity, his control - I was *really* impressed. I do agree he is not going to win, but I *will* vote for him tonight. More than once, even.

ALLISON IRAHETA - SOMEONE TO WATCH OVER ME
Aww yeah, girlfriend finally got hit with the pretty stick. And yesterday was her birthday? APRIL 27th BIRTHDAYS ROCK! Of course, I am like a million years older than her, but whatever. Not to mention she can sing her face off and did so yet again tonight.

MATT GIRAUD - MY FUNNY VALENTINE
Hmmmm. This some was the one song I downloaded from previous a-hole contestant Constantine Maroulis. It was his "moment." When you take on a "moment," you have to nail it like a two-dollar hooker. Matt Matt Matt. You escaped elimination last week, NO WAY you are not going home this week.

DANNY GOKEY - COME RAIN OR COME SHINE
All the blather about emotions, whatever - dudes, I did feel it with the others. HOWEVER - with Danny, I REALLY felt it. I actually got chills at the end, when he was all raucous and throaty. Paula was right: stellar. STELLAR.

ADAM LAMBERT - FEELIN' GOOD
I am so over this guy getting the pimp spot. Really people. THE STAIRS? He is not THAT good. Sure he is original and interesting, but is he the best SINGER? Other than the theatrical SCREAMING? I honestly don't think so. But apparently I am the only one who feels this way. I personally think it would be fun for Idol to just not broadcast his performance next week and see what kind of votes he gets. He's gonna win either way, so why not, right? P.S. The white suit sucked shiny satin ass.

BOTTOM TWO:
Matt and Kris (who are too similar and will split votes)

GOING HOME:
Matt. Bye bye, old pretend boyfriend.

AND YOU?

P.S. Photos pulled from the wonderful Rickey.

Hey there. I usually don't go in for 'spoilers', but somehow always find my way to your blog on Tuesday nights. I love to read your comments on the show, and it never seems to spoil it for me. Keep it coming! Idol doesn't show until 9 p.m. PST, so I have another hour to wait.

I agree all around. Danny rocked it. I really liked Allison tonight. She showed tremendous control with the ballad. I voted for Danny twice, and Allison once.
How did Adam get the stairs? Oy vey.
Bye bye Matt, Aimee's old pretend boyfriend.

Did you see Adam's tongue? Ew. Anyway, I am with you on him. He should shower or something. Kris should go but Matt probably will even though I think he sang ok tonight.

I'm over Adam too. He has flair and a great voice, but he belongs on Broadway. Like Sayesha last year. I second your idea of not broadcasting his performance and seeing what kind of votes he gets. As for Danny, I'm with Kara on him recording Rat Pack Standards as his first album. Killer genre for him.

And...yep, pretty much any Taurus birthday rocks. :-)

Have enjoyed reading your comments tonight. FYI: Constantine is starring in a brand new Broadway show "Rock of Ages" doing incredibly well. Check out Regis & Kelly tomorrow morning with Constantine and the cast of Rock of Ages featured!

I was totally excited that they each picked some of my favorite songs and sang the hell out of them. Standards night is my favorite. :-)

I agree, Matt will go. I will be sad to see him leave but he's not been consistent.

I thought Danny was super awesome this time around. And I'm always rooting for Allison.

I certainly agree that Constantine Maroulis's performance and arrangement of My Funny Valentine was worth downloading.

If you haven't kept up with Constantine's career (and I assume you haven't, judging from your 'colorful' description of his character), you probably missed him yesterday morning on The Early Show on CBS, but he'll be on American Idol Extra on Fox Reality Channel this week. The crew was in NYC recently to film a segment with Constantine behind the scenes of his new hit Broadway musical, Rock of Ages, where he gets to rock out and spin some beautiful love songs as well for 8 performances a week.

As for Adam, I certainly agree that he gets a lot more than his share of the spolight, but that always seems to happen once the judges pick their favorite. Still, it seems hardly fair to the others, imo.

ok. i both agree and disagree with you tonight.
Kris- yes, he is good, but matt is still my pretend boyfriend, not him. i do think that the 2 of them are in the same category and split votes, and he seems to get more of them than matt.
Allison- she kicked ass tonight. i would so listen to her on the radio, NOT change the channel (like if adam was singing)
Matt- he did AWESOME. i thought he sounded great, and, though he has maybe a .05% chance of winning, if that, he should not go home this week
Danny- cute, as always. he's also my pretend boyfriend, just cuz he's so damn cute. sang great, as always.
Adam- okay, WHY WHY WHY do the judges love him so? i'm glad that randy actually commented on his over the top theatrics, but PLEASE! He is a great performer, a great singer, but i can't see him making normal records. i see him performing, which is clearly what he loves to do.
matt probably will go home, or maybe allison, because they seem less popular than the others, but if i could choose, i'd send adam packing to NYC to get busy on a different stage!

A few weeks ago all people who tivo or taped it did not get to see Adams sing and he still was not in the bottom 3. So There you go.

Don't you mess with my Adam. I've been missing Axel Rose for years and here is Adam, prancing in to his shoes with verve. I heart him. :)

OK, clearly I have touched a nerve with Constantine and Adam lovers. And their agents.

Love your AI recaps, Aimee! Agree 100% with you on this one. Danny was excellent last night and I enjoyed the other performances...except for Adam's. He was SO over-the-top and corny, I could barely stand to watch. That one really long "screaming" note he did was ridiculous. And the suit? Yuck.

Sad to say, I think Matt will go home tonight. I've been a fan of his, but he has difficulty with consistency. His performance of "So Small" a few weeks ago, though, was one of my favorite performances of anyone this entire season.

Love your recaps. I do love me some Glambert, however. I guess I have some weird attraction to the guys in eyeliner....Constantine, Blake Lewis, David Cook, Adam Lambert.

Did you notice that Adam Lambert is starting to perfect the Constantine "eye hump" with the cameras?

I am still rooting for Matt... I think he's the only one with soloartist potential who I can actually imagine on a CD cover. The judges have been giving him mixed messages from the start.

Danny has good vocals, but he's getting kind of boring, imho.

Adam... I've never been a fan of his, but the pimping by the judges REALLY gets annoying. Is he an entertainer? Yes. A singer? Not so much. He's way too "shrilly" for me.

I like that you said MFV was Constantine's moment, thanks.

I have to agree with San on this one.

While Danny has a great voice...I'm getting bored with him too.

Matt was my secret love all the way until I noticed the mole on the forehead. Now I can't see anything else. Call me superficial, whatever. But it bugs me.

Adam is just weird and when he goes for the note that he shrieks every week, I just forward the DVR.

Kris, Kris, Kris. Love this guy. Can see him putting out a CD and songs that I would actually download. He's relevant and likable. Wait, wait....he's adorable. Don't care if he's married or not. Love him.

HA AH Marney - I have totally noticed the mole too, but it's the skin cancer preventionist in me! I keep going, how large is that? Is it irregularly shaped? Has he had it checked???

There is NO WAY Matt is not going home. And YES - what is up with Adam always going last???

you've got it all right...EXCEPT I really think danny is going to win and adam is going to take second...there are lots of regular big hearted people out there that have fallen in love the "normalness" of danny and he's america's heart throb !!!

bye bye matt....agreed !

Constantine had lots of "moments" during AI...My Funny Valentine, Bohemian Rhapsody, Nights on Broadway, I Cant Make You Love Me,
I Think I Love You and on and on....and now he has the starring role in the critically acclaimed Broadway musical Rock of Ages...check it out if you get to NYC...awesome show!

And totally agree with your assessment of Adam...every year the judges pimp someone and this year it is Adam *ugh*....enough said.

Love Allison but she has no chance of winning which sometimes is a good thing.

This top 5 was crazy talented. However I disagree with most of you saying Adam is shrilly. Theatrical yes, but a bad singer? Not by a long shot. I think he got his wake up call this week being in the bottom 2. Let's see what he brings next. I am looking forward to it.

ok, i know i am totally late to the party on this but I, along with you, am completely bored/annoyed by the talented yet - I'll say it again - annoying adam.
thank you.
good night.
