American Idol: Top 4
I take back what I said last week about interesting celebrity mentors. Because Slash sucked. He may be a great guitarist, but his critiques were worthless. Mumble mumble mumble whatever?
Second, they obviously put the contestants in the order of best to worst, and then circled back around to the better duet at the end. Which was an new, interesting twist - the duets. I thought it was a great addition for the Top 4 show, and they matched each group up perfectly.
ADAM LAMBERT - WHOLE LOTTA LOVE
Kara is right, Led Zepplin is his lane. I am back on the Glambert Train, toot toot! So what if he picked outfits tonight that made me uncomfortable looking at his package? He was hilariously fun and sang awesomely well. Bonus: NO TONGUE!
ALLISON IRAHETA - CRY BABY
You stick it to Simon, girl! Yes, it was a bit predictable for you to do Janis, but THANK YOU for not doing Little Piece of My Heart, THANK YOU for doing an awesome song like Cry Baby, and THANK YOU for kicking total ass. P.S. My 6 year old has a crush on you.
KRIS ALLEN - COME TOGETHER
Yeah, I wish my pretend boyfriend would have rocked out a little bit more (um, did you see how HOT he was dancing during his duet?) but anyone who can sing the Beatles and put some new riffs in it is OK in my book. I do think he is in trouble - HOWEVER. If you look at this post over at Rickey's - where iTunes was showing download stats for a little while until some tech guy got fired - Kris Allen has emerged as the #2 most downloaded Idol. Maybe maybe maybe?
DANNY GOKEY - DREAM ON
I am nothing if not fickle. And while last week I ragged on Adam Lambert, this week, I am turning on Danny. I am bored. Bored bored bored. HIS voice is not THAT good. The scream felt like I had a tree trunk in my mouth PLUS a bunch of little wet paper balls piled up in front of me. AND Vote For The Worst has decided if Danny wins, it will be Taylor Hicks Part Deux. Ouch. But good point.

I think Allison will be the one going home. I thought she sang well and I liked her new hair, but I don't think she'll get the votes.
Allison should have listened to Slash...although I'll give her a break because he couldn't share a cohesive sentence if his life depended on it (Someone to Love = better song choice). I'm still over Adam. A slave to the studio versions of the songs, and I just.wouldn't.download.that.one. But the Renegade duet? Redeemable in the studio version (hopefully).

I used to think it would be Adam, Danny, and Allison in the final 3. Not so sure now.
It's tough...the bottom 2 SHOULD be Danny and Kris, but will it?

Sorry, but you're wrong... there was "THE TONGUE" (and the shriek) in Adam's performance and it just makes me want to hide under the blanket. Weird.

Danny absolutely does NOT have to go! Although it's true that, while I do like him and all of his pairs of glasses, if I think back on all his performances I can only remember them as one big performance, since, well, they're kind of all the same.
It's also true that Adam really rocked it.
HOWEVER, if it were up to me, Kris and Allison would be in the top 2, Adam would go home last week...er, I mean, tonight, then Danny next week.
Unfortunately it will probably be the opposite, with Adam and Danny in the top 2.
