You know, sometimes you get discouraged/disoriented/tired of the social media merry-go-round. If you saw my post about falling on my face recently, you know I have the scars to prove it.
But here's the thing. There are also those nights when you hang out with awesome people, have lively conversations about everything under the sun (and I mean EVERYTHING)... then remember why you love social media in the first place.
Last night was like that.
Have you heard of Brian Solis?
If you haven't, go read his blog, and follow his Twitterstream. He knows what he is talking about, is a very nice person, and a great photographer to boot. I consider his site among my very top references for social media, data analysis and PR information.
Which is why, of course, he writes books and stuff.
And because of the books and stuff, he was in town last night for a book signing.
And because Brian was in town, and bunch of us came out.
That the lady sitting next to me in this photo is Brian's wife. I must mention that she is not only stunning outside, but stunning inside. So now, not only do I love Brian's blog and photos, but I adore his spouse too. Sheesh.
They don't call Denver a cowtown for nothing, so after all the books were signed, we walked over to Capital Grille for several plates of MEAT.
And apparently we should add the moniker "Pigtown" to Denver's list, because when the bacon wrapped bacon came out, the table went nuts. I AM NOT JOKING. Ask Geekmommy, pictured above.
But cow and pork products aside, really - what I felt was the warmth. Connections. Laughter. And it wasn't all just pre-Thanksgiving warm and fuzzies. It was real camaraderie with real people who happened to connect in ways that other people in my life are just starting to understand.
That's OK.
*I* understand.
Thanksgiving is absolutely my most favorite holiday of the year. Mainly because commercialization is pushed to the side, and instead, time is spent with family, while remembering what is good about our lives. Clearly I have a lot to be thankful for. My family. My work. My health.
And all of you.
Happy Thanksgiving, friends!
