I don't remember ever doing this, but I thought it would be fun to do a quickie thumbs up thumbs down, gut reaction to all the contestants who made it to the Top 24 last night. No explanations, although with a few I do have some things to say already - but that can wait till next week. And for a few, the impressions are REALLY gut - seeing as they got no airtime while we all got to watch the DRAMA of the judge/contestant STAREDOWN for 4 hours. We could certainly get at LEAST 3 minutes of each of these guys SINGING if they cut all the shots of Simon BREATHING.
But, hey, such is American Idol.
And surprise surprise! After all my complaining, I actually really like Ellen. Although, after Paula, the only place she could go was up.
Oh wait. One final complaint. WHO is doing the official portraiture for AI every year? Because they suck.

I loved Andrew Garcia from the first moment. And hello, Ashley Rodriguez is just, well, gorgeous. Sorry, I know it's not a beauty contest. It will be an interesting race! I know it's not about sympathy but I kind of wish they'd given Angela Martin another chance....
Andrew Garcia won me over with his version of Straight Up. I think he'll either end up at the top or fall on his face early on. I'm really looking forward to Lily's makeover. Her purple/gray hair drives me crazy.
Andrew Garcia was a stand-out from moment one. The way Casey handled the undressing by Kara back in his first audition was so genuine and unassuming. Love him too. I love indy style, so I'm a Crystal fan on the girls side. And I have to disagree with you on Siobhan. She's got lots of potential.
Ellen: thumbs up. Maybe YOU can replace Simon next year. :-)
I really like Andrew Garcia... my kids really like Big Mike. But isn't he the one who got kicked off because his dad blabbed to the media that he made it?
And I really like Crystal, but it will be interesting to hear how she handles when things aren't in her style.
I love Ellen as a judge. But I have a massive girl crush on her.

Some of these people I have no idea who they are- they got no air time it seems- and they cut some people I thought really could have had a shot. I couldn't suffer through the second night of selections. It was too painful they way they were doing it (loooooong and boring).
OK, THAT IS HILARIOUS.
According to Rickey, it was some guy named Chris Golightley who was cut due to a previous contract.

I'm a huge fan of Andrew Garcia, Crystal Bowersox, Big Mike and Lily Scott.

Andrew Garcia is Fantastic. I like the pretty boy too..casey. I hope Lily does something good..I like her edge, but not her hair.
I think Ellen is doing really well, but I always like her. :)

I love the other comments...some had me cracking up! I agree that I like Lilly but not her hair, like Andrew Garcia, love Casey (in a you-can-sing-and-I-have-a crush-on-you-and-would-love-if-you-sand-me-a-love-song kind of way). I also like Crystal B but I have to just be a terrible person and say it (I know I'm going to hell)...I can't stop starring at her teeth! They have GOT to fix that grill at some point, right? If she gets into the top 12? As part of her makeover? Please?
I finally got around to watching my TiVo'd American Idols... Unless something goes really wrong, Casey is so going to win. I am betting cold, hard cash here.
