One Giant Leap Into Manhood

Warning: Gross Stuff Ahead.

And parental whining.

It appears Declan may have his first case of Athlete's Foot. At least his foot was itching last night, he wears socks too much, showers too little, so either way - his tootsies got the rub down with medicine, because who cares - yuck.

And of course he was being a little punk about the whole thing.

He turned 7 last September and his maturity mixed with pre-teen snark has been ramming at us like a freight train ever since. I honestly feel like I have to sit down sometimes.

I mean, did you see this?

Some of it is awesome. We are doing more and more cool stuff together all the time.

But seriously? ATHLETE'S FOOT? With ATTITUDE?

Lord help me.

Oh, that's hysterical. But for your sake, I hope the athlete's foot isn't recurring. My brother had perpetually stanky ass feet up until he left for college. It was gross, and I am hoping y'all can avoid that fate.

Having a 7 year old son, I completely understand! My husband and I are constantly saying "Where the hell does he come up with this stuff??" And mine has itchy stanky feet too.

My oldest is almost 10. Some days he is totally awesome. Helpful, fun to hang out with, the whole bit. Other days? He's a complete and total a-hole. Hate to say that about my own child, but it's totally true.

My 10 yr. old's favorite thing to say to me for the last year? "Oh no you DIDN'T girlfriend!". Oh yeah, and he does the 'snap snap' finger motions to go along with it, too. As for the feet, Oh.My.Gawd. My son's feet are the most stanky ass things around!! We have to keep his shoes outside when he takes them off and his dirty socks have a basket all their own. Oh yes. It's true. lol

Oh, and one more thing! When I picked him up from school on Weds he WREAKED of cologne. When I asked him why, he said one of the 'guys' brought Axis to school so they could use it after PE, just in case they were smelly. It was so strong, we had to drive home with the windows down. Help me now, Lord.

I am breathing a HUGE sigh of relief that I don't live with the only six-going-on-15-year old! My daughter walks around singing, "I wake up in the morning, feeling like P. Diddy" and of course, "Before I leave, brush my teeth with a bottle of JACK." Nice. My mom is so proud.

Oh, and Ellie went several weeks without wearing socks - until her cousin told her that her feet smelled like a dead raccoon. Ugh. We ALWAYS wear socks now.
